My Story and Practice
My work is mainly hand-thrown stoneware and my focus is on creating multiples, although I enjoy creating unique one-off pieces and am exploring hand building. I hold a BA in Sculpture and an MA in Fine Art and I am hoping to bring this into my new practice and I hope you enjoy watching as both my studio and me become more established.
After graduating I continued as a practising artist for years, but life changed direction and so my route into Arts Marketing and PR began. After years (about 15) without a studio my desire to 'make' turned into an almost palpable yearning to get back to making and creating! I remembered going to a pottery class when I was eighteen and decided that I'd like to go back 6 years ago to see if I still liked it. I loved it so much, it has become somewhat of an obsession.
I enjoy hillwalking and exploring the hills and mountains across Scotland and I hope to bring some of this imagery and colour into my collections. I want my practice it to be rooted in the local environment and for it to be grounded in sustainability.
